Creative Ways to Tell Your Husband You are Pregnant

Finding out you are pregnant is one of the big, memorable events in your life. Now that you know, how can you creatively tell your husband you are expecting? Think about his interests and tailor your announcement to correspond to them.

Is he a sports fanatic? Buy a tiny size jersey and tell him that someone is coming over to watch the game with him – next season.

Is he a computer geek? Change his screensaver to Surprise! We’re pregnant! Or design a PowerPoint presentation that ends with We’re Pregnant! And tell him that you want his opinion of a project that you have been working on. If you have an ultrasound picture, you could scan it in and use it for his wallpaper.

Are cars more his style? Hang a pair of booties from his rearview mirror, with a note pinned to them that announces your pregnancy.

Does he enjoy beer or wine? Get crafty and make some labels to glue over his favorite brand. Tell him that you picked him up a new brand to try, or just leave it in the fridge.

Does he love to eat out? Call ahead to your favorite eatery and get the staff to help you with your plan. You could slip a personalized note into a fortune cookie if Chinese cuisine is on the menu. Or how about a cake with the announcement written in icing for dessert?

Is he a career man? Have something made up by the florist and have it delivered to his work.

You can get other family members to help you with the announcement.

• Tie a note on the dog if it runs to greet your husband at the door every day.
• Slip an “I’m the big sister/brother” T shirt on your youngest, and wait for him to figure it out.
• If yours is the first grandchild, have grandma put on a “World’s greatest grandma” T-shirt.

Other ways to tell your husband you are pregnant are:

• Empty out his sock drawer and fill it with baby things, along with at note that says “Make room for me, I’m moving in!”

• Tape or write a note on the bathroom mirror while he is in the shower.

• Set an extra place setting at the dinner table with a baby place setting. Use place cards for the night, making one for everyone that designate their relationship – “Momma your last name”, “Daddy your last name”.

• Give him a shopping list that includes a bunch of baby items.
